Reliving trauma is inevitable. There do seem to be triggers that just suck one into the negative spiral but getting back to one’s own breath seems to help. Simultaneously not judging oneself for going back into the spiral is quintessential so we can be forgiving of ourselves. One thing that helps for such future spiraling down, is awareness of the triggering event. This simplifies the next time it happens. We can catch it early as the triggering event itself starts to kick into gear. This way we cut out the automatic script from running and stops the spiraling down in its tracks.
