Signs of Childhood Emotional Abuse

Signs of emotional abuse in a child may include:

  • lethargy and ineffective participation in school
  • jumpiness or obvious anxiety in public
  • being scared of parent(s)
  • saying they hate the parent(s)
  • speaking ill about themselves (for eg: “I’m an idiot”)
  • showing emotional immaturity as compared to similar age peers
