Our Evolutionary survival mechanism is primed two remember bad experiences as a warning for the future., whereas pleasant experiences serve no such purpose hence disregarded. We tend to tar the whole day as bad with one negative event when in reality, multitude of good things happened that day – positive, neutral and then some negative.
Starting to pay attention to positives in a day is a conscious effort and helps to save it in a fantastical bank for future use rather than let it slide into oblivion. This makes us feel richer.
